Proud Papa
Mia ate two oysters today. We're not sure that she really liked them, but she did ask for that second one. Then she sucked on a lemon - to the great enjoyment of those around her.
We spent the weekend at La Rochelle with some friends of ours. The first and last time we went I was 5 months pregnant with Mia and we spent a rainy day visiting the amazing aquarium. Despite their claims of having as many sunny days as the Riviera, my souvenir of that weekend includes a lot of rain and some beautiful transparent seahorses. So this time we were really happy to see that the sun was out. So happy, in fact, that after lunch on Saturday we all took a nap in the garden while the kids played on the swingset. To ensure an early bedtime we took them to the park and then on a walk through downtown to visit the port. Mia tasted ice cream (coffee) for the first time and was frantic when she couldn't get "mho, mho" fast enough. I barely had the spoon out of her mouth and she was already making the sign for "more".
Sunday we went to RĂ© Island to walk around and to eat oysters. More precisely, the goal was to eat oysters and the walk was to please me, the forever tourist. The walk through the charming, midevil port town was simply an excuse to buy a baguette, some oysters, and the newspapers for our picnic. Which is where Mia tried her first oyster and brought tears to her father's eyes.
