A big girl bed for a big girl

Thomas decided today that our Saturday morning should be spent at IKEA, shopping for Mia's first bed. When we got to the kid's section, Mia immediately stripped down to her panties and tried out all of the demo beds. We finally settled on this one and picked out heart sheets to go with it. When Thomas finally got it assembled, she was so excited that it took her awhile to settle down. We just went in and checked on her a few minutes ago. She's taken off her nap diaper and is fast asleep with her butt in the air.

Lozere bis

Back from the Lozere

May is the month of long weekend after long weekend... and we just had a Thursday to Monday National break. So we went back to Lozere, where I believe there are more cows than inhabitants. A very restful weekend with our friends and lots of fresh milk from the farm next door. Some pictures:

A deafeaning silence

I was supposed to work today so I scheduled an extra day with our Nounou. It turns out that I don't have the papers I need yet so Mia is still at the Nounou's and I'm at home - ALONE. It's quite a shock to have an entire day of freedom. I'm not sure what to do with myself really. What's most disturbing is how quiet the house is! No little girl singing, no one asking for more juice and no one having a tantrum.

Montpellier

We spent the weekend in Montpellier visiting friends. Thomas had to go see his business partners to help with the blends for the latest vintage in production. So Mia and I came along to wander the streets of the town that was my first home in France. It's much smaller than what I remember....

Mia had a great time playing with Josephe, the 1yr old son of our friends Fanny and Greg. The two kids played so much, in fact, that they almost skipped their naps entirely and didn't go to bed on Saturday night until 10pm. It was our first time trying to get Mia to sleep in a "big bed" so needless to say she kept climbing out, unzipping her sleeper and walking into the dining room in various states of undress.

I figured that this was worth a picture....

Tea time with Bear before going to have our very first (professional) haircut.

First apero of the season

After four days of rain, the sun finally came out this afternoon. After work we picked up the girls from the MdE and headed to our favorite square, with our favorite wine bar. Place St Pierre has adorable cobble stone streets, a church with bells that chime each quarter hour and no cars. Of course, there was also a big "doggie caca" not far from our table. As we sat down and ordered our wine, we knew one of the girls would be baptized before we left. They played (fairly) well for about an hour and just as we asked for the check who stepped in it? Mia! Since it was her left foot the French say that it will bring her good luck...
