We should be in Lisbon right now
but I'm at home with Mia. Our departure for our romantic weekend à deux was doomed from the outset. Our apero last night with friends turned into dinner and we didn't get home until 1am. Then Mia woke up 4 times during the night coughing with a stuffy nose. And this morning, in the rush of last minute instructions for my mom, I mistakenly took Mia's passport instead of my own. I didn't notice until we were going through security and by then it was too late. So they pulled our bag off the flight and we changed our outgoing flight until Friday and came home. Much to Mom's surprise. My friend Emmanuelle said it was because I felt guilty about leaving Mia for the first time that I inadvertently ruined the trip.
In fact, on the way back into town we realised that it was a good mistake to have made. We still have 3 days together in Lisbon and we have a calm afternoon that we can spend doing whatever we want. So Thomas is out on a drive in the green car, Mom is out on a walk, and I'm here cuddling Mia who has a runny nose (from her cold) and is drooling so much that I can follow her path around the room as if she were a fast moving snail (tooth #3 has arrived).
Tomorrow we'll head to Lisbon, but with less guilt.
